News at Yammer

Yammer has evolved significantly in recent months, thanks to Microsoft's investment in Office 365, and with the introduction of new features and improvements, there are many exciting new features that will be of interest to users.

Yammer is hosted in Europe

Microsoft has completely overhauled the technical basis of Yammer and decided to move hosting for European customers to Europe. This move from American data centres improves data management and security within Europe.

New web front end with Fluent Framework

The Yammer web interface has been completely redesigned and now uses the Fabric UI and the Fluent Framework. The app on smartphone platforms has also been equipped with this new user interface.

Shared files now in SharePoint

Shared files in Yammer are now stored in SharePoint and no longer in Azure. Each Yammer community now has access to an associated Office Group with its own site collection in SharePoint.

Move to native mode

Yammer now enables the complete migration of users to the Azure Active Directory. This means that all Yammer users can be managed seamlessly within the O365 environment.

Advanced integrations in Office 365

Teams:

Yammer is now available as a Teams app, so users in Teams no longer need to switch.

Outlook:

For users who use Outlook intensively, Yammer is now available in Outlook on the web, in the mobile app and in the desktop app.

SharePoint:

A new WebPart for SharePoint brings extended functions such as liking, commenting, rich text editor and the option to ask questions.

Compliance Stack:

Yammer has been fully integrated into the compliance stack, including eDiscovery, Retention Policies, DLP and Office 365 Group Creation/Expiration Policies.
