Yammer has evolved significantly in recent months, thanks to Microsoft’s investments in Office 365. With the introduction of new features and improvements, there are many exciting updates that are interesting for users.
Yammer is Now Hosted in Europe
Microsoft has completely revamped Yammer’s technical foundation and decided to relocate hosting for European customers to Europe. This move from American data centers improves data management and security within Europe.
New Web Frontend with Fluent Framework
The Yammer web interface has been completely redesigned and now uses Fabric UI as well as the Fluent Framework. The app on smartphone platforms has also been equipped with this new user interface.
Shared Files Now in SharePoint
Shared files in Yammer are now stored in SharePoint instead of Azure. Each Yammer Community now has access to an associated Office Group with its own Site Collection in SharePoint.
Migration to Native Mode
Yammer now enables complete migration of users to Azure Active Directory. This allows all Yammer users to be seamlessly managed within the O365 environment.
Extended Integrations in Office 365
Teams:
Yammer is now available as a Teams App, so users in Teams no longer need to switch applications.
Outlook:
For users who use Outlook intensively, Yammer is now available in Outlook on the Web, in the mobile app, and the desktop app.
SharePoint:
A new WebPart for SharePoint brings extended features like liking, commenting, rich text editor, and the ability to ask questions.
Compliance Stack:
Yammer has been fully integrated into the Compliance Stack, including eDiscovery, Retention Policies, DLP, and Office 365 Group Creation/Expiration Policies.
